At 39C Design, we talk a lot about how we like to bring ideas to life. During her time at the Product Ventures, Kelly was a prototyping specialist who brought design concept sketches and CAD files to life using some pretty awesome prototyping technology (like CNC routers, 3D printers, vacuum formers, and a whole lot of paint mixing).

The product design team at Product Ventures created this water bottle and dumbbell design to be developed as SLA and foam prototypes. These life-like prototypes would be used for consumer testing and validation before going into production.

The water bottle SLA prototype components were meticulously sanded before getting painted with a ‘soft touch’ paint on the lid and a crisp clear coat on the main bottle form.

The adjustable dumbbell foam prototype was a study in form language, ergonomics, and size during consumer testing. Multiple concepts were CNC routed for testing and would later go to production to be sold in the fitness and workout industries.
